Writing Music: Smiles for Life

For those of us doing Camp NaNoWriMo this month, we’ve passed the halfway mark and have reached the end of the third week. The initial excitement has worn off, and the week two blues are fading into the past. The end is almost, but not quite in sight. Today’s writing music is the perfect reminder of that initial rush excitement. It comes from a musician called Alex Boye, a singer who arranges amazing Africanized versions of songs.

Personally, I can’t help but smile every time I listen to Smiles for Life. This upbeat song is not so much music for writing to as much as music to get you into the right mood to write in. Camp NaNoWriMo is hard. Sitting down to write a certain amount of words every day for thirty days whether you’re sick, tired, or have just plain run out of ideas isn’t easy.  And sometimes we need to just take a moment to sit back, take a break, and remember to smile. If you’ve chosen to spend the time writing a book, either during Camp NaNoWriMo, or on your own, then you probably enjoy writing. So smile! Because writing is fun.

What makes you smile today?
