Writing Music: Roundtable Rival

This week’s writing music is another piece from one of my favourite musicians, dubstep violinist Lindsey Stirling. I love listening to her music while writing because it has such a strong feeling of forward movement that I want to write quickly to keep up with it. This piece, Roundtable Rival is not only an amazing piece to listen to, but it has an incredibly inspiring music video to go with it.

When I watch this video, I get a lot of steampunk inspiration. The costumes especially are amazing. If you’re looking for something to help with a steampunk book (and seriously, the world needs more of those), then you should definitely give this a watch. The music itself is upbeat and filled with energy. It would suit a scene with a lot of action, but without any life threatening danger.

What are you listening to this week? Have you ever read a steampunk book?

  1. That was....awesome. Woah. Plot bunnies everywhere. I write steampunk (and love the outfits in general, of course) so this is super inspiring. Thanks for sharing!

    1. I've never written steampunk before, but I love the genre. We really do need more steampunk books. it's so cool that you write those. And the costumes are the most amazing thing ever, way better than sci-fi outfits.

  2. I LOVE Lindsey Stirling! Thanks for sharing this video! Elements and Song of the Caged Bird are my favorites for her first album. And I adore Master of Tides from her new one!

    1. Me too. Elements is one of my favourite pieces of hers ever, especially with the music video. Master of the Tides is pretty epic too. I shared that one on here only a couple of weeks ago actually. Her music is so unique and inspiring, isn't it?

  3. Lindsey Stirling is literally one of the most amazing violinists ever - it's about time people start realizing that this instrument is not just for classical music! ;)

    1. It's people like Lindsey Stirling who helped me to realise that the violin can actually sound good. I'm afraid my exposure to violin before her was mostly off-key student violin, which I didn't enjoy. But violin actually sounds surprisingly good with modern music, doesn't it?

  5. I love writing to Lindsey Stirling. The song Elements is just so magical!!! And in the video, the earth element reminded me of The Legend of Zelda. :3 The Roundtable Rival video is really entertaining.

One more thing, I nominated you for the Sisterhood Of The World award, I hope I haven't said that already! Anyway, I hope you have fun with it.

    1. Me too. The video for Elements actually inspired a whole plot for me once. Now you come to mention it you're right, the earth element costume is very much like the Zelda representations I've seen around (I've sadly never played the game).

Thanks so much for the nomination! You made me feel special. I hope you don't mind, but I probably won't accept it on the blog until I get back from my blogging break in the new year.
