Writing Music: Strong

I often find new movies a great source of new writing music. Quite often I go to see a movie in the cinema, then hurry home to buy and listen to the whole gorgeous soundtrack. My latest movie music find is from the new Cinderella movie. While the whole soundtrack is amazing, and definitely worth listening to, especially if you’re a fantasy writer like me, my absolute favourite piece from the album is the instrumental version of the song Strong, which comes from the end credit sequence I believe.

Strong is a very positive, upbeat piece. It starts relatively quietly, but soon builds up into a triumphant climax. It has a strong feeling of happiness with a touch of magic to it. It is the perfect piece for a romance finally realised, a bright and happy ending, or a triumphant victory. The song has a strong fantasy feel, but would suit a gentle romance as well.

Have you seen the new Cinderella? What is your favourite movie soundtrack? What are you listening to this week? Recommend me some great music!

  1. The Cinderella soundtrack is MAGICAL. (A bit too upbeat for my own writing, but fabulous nonetheless.) Some of my fav writing tracks are from movies -- mostly Hans Zimmer and John Williams, to be honest XD -- because they have that beautiful atmospheric *pull*, and don't have lyrics; perfect for writing!

    1. Hans Zimmer has written some amazing movie soundtracks. I think the atmosphere is why I love soundtracks to much. They tell you so much about mood and place and such like, but they have to do it through the sound, not through the words. There must be a fine art to it.

  3. The Cinderella soundtrack is so beautiful. I agree with Alyssa; the music in the soundtrack creates such an atmospheric feeling to it! I'm not sure what my favorite soundtrack from the movie is... and I know it wasn't in the movie, but only in the trailers for Cinderella, but I love the song "Aeon", meaning "time" or "beginning"; it very much depicts it so!

    xoxo Morning
