Top Ten Books On My Fall/Spring Reading List

It’s time for another list of amazing books that I can’t wait to get my hands on. This week’s Top Ten Tuesday subject, hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, is the top ten books on my fall reading list. As I live in Australia, it’s actually spring, but it makes no difference to the fact that I have a whole stack of books that I would love to have the chance to read. Here are ten of them.

1. Throne of Glass

This book looks pretty cool, has assassins, and comes with an epicly awesome cover. I’ve been told that it’s well worth reading, so now I can’t wait to get the chance to read it. Maybe my library will have a copy eventually.

2. The Blood of Olympus
Rick Riordan

I’ve been a big fan of the Percy Jackson books for a few years now, so obviously I’m super excited for the final book of the Heroes of Olympus series. This is it folk. No more Percy Jackson. I can’t wait for the book to come out in October so I can see how the story ends.

3. Blue Lily, Lily Blue
Maggie Stiefvater

This is another final book of a series that isn’t out yet but that I’m longing to read. I love the other two Raven Boys books, so I’m incredibly excited for this book. Why can’t it be out now so I can read it right away?

4. Hollow City
Ransom Riggs

I read Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children not long ago and loved it. Now I’m looking forward to reading Hollow City for more of the amazing story. I’m hoping for more powers, more photos and more peculiarity.

5. The Ask and the Answer
Patrick Ness

Patrick Ness is one of my recent author finds. I read The Knife of Never Letting Go and, much to my surprised, liked it. So now I’m hoping I can find the second book of the Chaos Walking series and read that too.

6. A Monster Calls
Patrick Ness

Several people recommended this Patrick Ness book to me after I mentioned that I enjoyed The Knife of Never Letting Go. I don’t know much about this book, but it’s supposed to be good and it might possibly have monsters so I’m definitely going to give it a go.

7. The Book Thief
Markus Zusak

I am ashamed to say that I’ve had this book for an age and still haven’t read it. I actually started it once, and yet haven’t finished it. I promise I’m going to though. I just keep getting…distracted.

8. Princess of the Midnight Ball
Jessica Day George

I’m most disappointed that I haven’t managed to find a copy of this book yet. I’ve been dying to read it for months. And yet my library refuses to have it there for me to borrow and devour. It’s definitely a book I want to read though.

9. The Meeting Place
Janette Oke

I’m a big fan of Janette Oke’s Love Comes Softly series, so I’m looking forward to trying some of her other books too. My sister recommended this one to me, so I’m hoping that I’m going to like it just as much.

10. Panic
Lauren Oliver

This book is a bit of a wildcard. I have no idea what it’s about or whether it’s supposed to be any good. I borrowed it from the library on a whim actually. So I could either like it, or it could be a total flop. This should be interesting.

A few months back I shared my summer/winter reading list (you can find that post here). So, how did I do on that?

  1. Cinder: Currently reading. I finally managed to get a copy and to start reading it too.
  2. Princess of the Midnight Ball: Obviously I haven’t managed to read this one yet.
  3. Itch Rocks: Read it. Loved it. Want to reread it already.
  4. Love’s Enduring Promise: Read that one and the next couple of books too. Very good.
  5. Once We Were:  Haven’t found this book yet. Still hoping to read it eventually.
  6. Dreamtreaders: Read it. Twas amazing. Everyone should read it.
  7. Specials: I borrowed this one a couple of times and still haven’t read it. Oops.
  8. Aram: I haven’t got around to read this one yet. Eventually though.
  9. Frozen Footprints: Read it. Really liked it too. Two thumbs up.
  10. The Count of Monte Cristo: Bad me hasn’t read this one yet. What? I’ve been busy.

What books are you looking forward to reading? Have you read any of these? Would you recommend Panic?

  1. Wow, SO many great books here! I love the Chaos Walking series. It's so unique and compelling. Also THE BOOK THIEF -- love, love, love :) I still need to read THE HOLLOW CITY as well. I'm also a huge fan of the Lunar Chronicles series. Are you loving CINDER? I did.

    Happy Spring reading!

    1. I know, right? I can't believe that there are so many great books I haven't read yet. I just finished reading Cinder and it was amazing! I had to start Scarlet straight away. Now I can't wait for Winter. It's sure to be just as awesome. Thanks for visiting!

    1. Cinder is such an amazing book, isn't it? I started it one evening thinking I'd just read a little before bed and the next thing I know I don't want to put it down. You should definitely read Scarlet as well. I just finished it and it is just as amazing. There are a few new characters to get to know and love.
Thanks for the nomination! I'll hop over and read your post at once.

    1. It can be so difficult to find enough time to read, can't it? I generally have a big burst of reading all at once, and then struggle to read the rest of the time. So many good books, so little time to read them all...

  4. "Blood of Olympus" and "The Book Thief"—I really need to get on those. So much books so not much time. Will you review the books you do read?

    1. I can't wait for 'The Blood of Olympus' to come out. I'm sure it's going to be a spectacular finish. I might. Do you think people would be interested in me reviewing a few of the books that I've read?

    2. Personally, I like reading book reviews and I post my own sometimes. The problem is, a lot of times if I haven't actually read the book I'm not going to be interested in commenting on it—though I will sometimes actually read the book.

So I'd be interested, but be careful, because they're not the most discussion-making posts. :P

    3. Good point. I may try an occasional one for books I've really enjoyed and see how that goes. I certainly won't expect a bucketload of comments on my posts if I do. But it could be worth a try.

    1. Aw, thank you Emily. Your comment made my day! I'll certainly try to remember to do a review of Hollow City once I've read it. Those books are so good they should definitely be talked about. Thanks for commenting!
