Writing Music: Forbidden Friendship
09:00
I listen to quite a variety of different kinds of music
while I’m writing, but there’s something special about movie soundtracks.
Soundtracks are always written specifically to go with a story, so maybe that’s
what makes them such good music to write to. Sometimes listening to a movie
soundtrack can be just what I need to get through a tough scene that just isn’t
coming out the way I want it to. Most of the time they’re just instrumental
pieces too, so there aren’t even any distracting lyrics, which makes them
perfect for times of total concentration.
There are a lot of amazing movie soundtracks out there, but
one of my favourite ones to write to is the soundtrack for How to Train Your Dragon. There are so many good pieces of music
from this movie. My very favourite one is Forbidden
Friendship. This piece is a happy piece, good for a scene of normal life,
or a happy scene between friends. It’s also a great one for listening to at the
beginning of a difficult writing session to get you in a good mood for writing.
Do you listen to movie
soundtracks while writing? What is your favourite soundtrack? What music are you
listening to at the moment?

I love this piece! I do listen to soundtracks so long as they don't have words with them or at least not many. My favourite soundtrack would have to be the Hobbit Unexpected Journey. I love it! At the moment I am listening to Shadows by Lindsey Stirling. It's amazing!
ReplyDeleteOh I love that soundtrack! It's really, really good for writing to. I actually also enjoy running to it, even though it's certain not normal running music. Ooh, Shadows is a lovely piece. I think it's one of her less appreciated ones, but I really enjoy it.
DeleteHow to Train Your Dragon has one of my favourite soundtracks. I love this piece so much, and I really like Romantic Flight as well. They're such amazing pieces of music.
ReplyDeleteHow to Train Your Dragon is such a good soundtrack. There are so many amazing pieces on it. I could listen to it on endless repeat for days (I may or may not have done that...) Romantic Flight is a really beautiful piece. i didn't think much of it the first time I listened to it actually, but it really grew on me after a few listens. Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteI love listening to Movie Soundtracks when I write! I have the Avatar soundtrack which is so otherwordly and epic at times. Plus bits of the LOTR soundtrack and several animated films - Tangled, Frozen, Mulan & Anastasia. When I'm writing different kinds of scenes I feel like playing a certain album on repeat. Now thanks to this post I'm going to have to buy the How to Train your Dragon soundtrack because I can't believe I haven't already got it -_- I utterly adore both films so I don't understand how I missed it.
ReplyDeleteAlso I may or may not be binge-reading your writing posts ;-)
I haven't heard the Avatar soundtrack yet. I'm going to have to look that one up and give it a listen. I love otherworldly sounding music. Animated film music is so cool. I have pretty much all the LOTR soundtracks, except the new Hobbit one I think.
DeleteI'm so excited to hear you're reading my other posts. You just made my day with that1
