Writing Music: Colours of Love
19:37
I love discovering musicians whose music is all suitable for
writing to, no matter what piece you’re listening to. Recently, I’ve been
listening to a lot of music by Two Steps
From Hell, which is just like this.
They have some of the best songs I’ve ever found for writing to. It has the
emotions and moods of a movie soundtrack, very few lyrics, and an epic,
compelling sound all of its own. I recently shared my thoughts on their piece Cannon in D, and today I wanted to share
another of their pieces that I’ve been listening to on repeat, Colours of Love.
Colours of Love starts
quite moderately enough, but quickly swells into a full bodie, almost
triumphant sound. It feels a bit like a celebration at some points, like that
feeling after the final battle is won and everyone’s getting their medals Star Wars style. It is generally very
upbeat, with a rousing choral section in the middle, which has no recognisable
lyrics (at least in English). It would suit a scene of celebration, large or
small, or, as the title suggests, possibly a scene where love is discovered.
What is your go-to
music for writing? What sort of a scene do you think this piece suits? Have you
checked out Two Steps From Hell before?
What have you been listening to this week? Recommend me some music!

Beautiful! I love Two Steps From Hell and Thomas Bergersen; they're my go to for good writing music when all else fails! I love their song Children of the Sun! :)
ReplyDeleteI almost chose Children of the Sun for my piece this week actually. I'm slowly working my way through their albums, but this one is a particular favourite of mine at the moment.
DeleteOh gosh, I think I'm going to use this as my writing music definitely because I'm running out of Star Wars tracks and you are absolutely so right in that it feels SO STAR WARS-Y. There's a touch of Interstellar-y there, too, which just makes it better.
ReplyDeleteThe moment I listened to it I just got the strongest image of that scene where Princess Leia is handing out all the medals. I'm glad it's useful to you. If Interstellar has music like this then I think I shall have to look it up. That's the soundtrack of a movie if I'm correct?
DeleteI've never heard of Thomas Bergersen, but I really enjoyed this track. The chanting-esque lyrics were very cool.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing:)
Thomas Bergersen has loads of soundtrack style music like this. If you're looking for some music for writing to, or just for listening to something awesome, you should definitely check his stuff out. It's pretty amazing.
DeleteI love this piece! I love TSFH in general. Their music is amazing. Thanks for another piece to add to my playlist!
