NaNoWriMo Update #1 + Snazzy Snippets19:35
It’s day four of NaNoWriMo. Writers are settling into their groove. The initial adrenaline rush may be wearing off by now, but, powered by tea and chocolate, writers are powering their way through the first week. And what a first week it has been so far. I’ve been super encouraged by watching the amazing progress of my writing buddies over on the NaNoWriMo website and seeing their updates on Twitter. Wherever you are in your word count at the moment, whether you’re behind, on par, or racing ahead, you are amazing.
For me, the first four days have been highly successful. I’ve participated in about a million word wars (I highly recommend following @NaNoWordSprints on Twitter if you want a place to find word wars all day long), my characters have settled into their book, and I haven’t quite consumed all my motivational sweets yet. Now, you may remember that on Monday, I wrote about my three goals for this NaNoWriMo. So, what progress have I made?
Goal 1. Write In Ten Different Locations
As you can see, I’ve managed three so far. However, these are the three easiest, and I rarely venture far from home, so filling all ten spaces may be a little tougher than I thought. Still, progress, right?
Goal 2. Achieve Three 10k Days
I’ve made another handy dandy little graphic for this goal (this is also the Excel spreadsheet I set up as a second place to track my NaNoWriMo progress,). As you can see, I’ve achieved this goal, which was certainly a surprise to me! I doubt I shall be able to keep this pace up for long though. But now I need a new goal. Any suggestions?
Goal 3. Write Two Books
Good progress here too. I’m about halfway through the first book, Blood Debt at the moment, so I’m well on track to write two of them, provided I stay motivated throughout the month. However, trouble may be looming. I’ve come to the end of the part I outlined. Now it’s time to get my pantser on and figure the rest of this plot out.
So, that’s how I’m going with my goals. And now for a few snippets. Because snippets are fun! Being that Alyssa@The Devil Orders Takeout is also running Snazzy Snippets this month, I’m linking up with that too!
How is your NaNoWriMo going? If you’re not doing NaNoWriMo, what are you working on right now? Any suggestions for a new goal for me?
