Odds and Ends: Random Links for Writers

18:20

I have a lot of links bookmarked on my web browser. There are just so many interesting things to see and I often want to go back and look at them later, or to share them with other people. Sometimes I share them on myFacebook page, but I have many, many others that I haven’t shared with anyone yet. So today I want to share five random writing related links that I have particularly enjoyed. Some are useful, some are informative, and some are just plain fun. Hopefully you’ll find something you like.

Ology List: Have you ever wanted to write about a branch of science, but had no idea what on earth it was called? Have you ever wanted to give a character an interesting scientific career but didn’t know what area he should study? This place lists a huge number of science branches by their proper names, which is really helpful for scientifically challenged writers like me.

The CharacterGenerator: There are plenty of generators out there that will generate random names for characters, but this generator goes way beyond that. At a click of a button, you can have a ready-made character with strengths, weaknesses and even prospective careers. Great for when you need a character in a hurry.

Writing Quotes:Everyone needs a bit of inspiration every so often. For me, I love to read what other writers have said about writing. This list has some great quotes that I really love. If you’re looking for some great sayings about writing, check out this list.

40 Writing PostIdeas: If you’re anything like me, sometimes you just can’t come up with any ideas for blog posts. Fear not. This list has 40 ideas for blog posts specially geared towards writers. Even if you don’t feel like using any of the ideas, they might spark something for you.

And lastly, just for fun…Teddy’s Story Joint: A fun YouTube video about writers and their books. Definitely worth watching for a laugh.

Do you collect random links like me? Got any interesting links to share? Did you find any of these links interesting?

  2. There are too many of my own odds and ends to name... BUT I would like to mention that Season 5 of Studio C starts today, so woot woot.

I do like reading writing, quotes, though. Sometimes they are very good inspiration. :)

    1. Season 5! Yes! (Watch as I go watch all the videos now. I love Studio C so much. Why can't I be that awesome?) I love reading writing quotes too. I have a massive 10 page document of them on my computer that I've collected from various places. They're ever so inspiring.

    1. One link instead of five. Very sensible. I'm glad you liked these. They're probably my favourites of the past couple of weeks.
