It's week four of NaNoWriMo. I can't believe the month has passed so quickly! From here, it's only a short run to the end of the month. To those of you who are already finished and celebrating their wins, congratulations! You are amazing and you deserve all the cake. To those of you still soldiering on, keep up the great work. You're amazing too. You deserve celebratory cake for getting this far. Stay strong until the end.

With only five more days to go until the end of NaNoWriMo, it's probably a good time for me to report in on how my goals are going. Or not a good point, considering what I actually have to report.

Goal 1: Write In Ten Different Locations

I have rather failed on this goal this week. Only one new location to report, and it's not even outside of my house! I have, however, been getting rather a lot of writing done while in the kitchen. Generally while watching the dinner cook. It's surprising how writing a hundred words here and there between tasks adds up by the end of the day. It's not a very exciting location, but it has been highly helpful.

Goal 2: Achieve Three 10k Days (Achieved Nov. 3rd)

Last week I mentioned that I would like to have one more 10k day before the end of the month. As you can see by my pitiful little graph, that hasn't happened, for multiple reason. Firstly, because last Friday was my birthday (21. I feel so old now), so very little got written then, and then because this is my final week of university, and it's slightly more important to make sure all my final assignments get in on time that to spend my time writing. Can't wait for the weekend so I can blast out some more words though.

Goal 3: Write Two Books (Part 1 Achieved Nov. 13th)

I'm still hopeful of achieving this goal at the moment. Despite having had a terrible writing week, I think I may still be on track to finish the second book. If it doesn't decide to go for a 100k words that is. Goodness knows what's happening to my books this month. I normally first draft books of 60k-70k, not 88k and above. Behave yourself books!

And now, after all the woeful news, the fun part of the post. More excerpts! I'm very much enjoying writing this thriller/action book, and the characters are loads of fun. I hope you enjoy this peek into my latest project.

How is your NaNoWriMo going? Hopefully better than mine at the moment. Can you believe it's nearly over? Next update, it'll be December and everything will be finished.

  1. You can do it, Imogen! Go go go! I'm starting a rewrite of something today, not for NaNo, but to get it done before Christmas. I'm glad you're having a pretty good NaNo!
