Writing Music: Love Story Meets Viva La Vida

The Piano Guys have so many pieces of music that are just perfect for writing to. Most of them don’t have lyrics, and they are all so beautiful that they capture my imagination. I recently discovered this piece by them, and I knew at once that this was going to be yet another great piece of writing music from these talented musicians.

To me, this piece suits scenes of beginnings. New experiences, new lives, new destinies. When I listen to this, I imagine a nervous girl before her wedding or entering an important party, or at some similar event. It would also suit a scene where a character is coming to terms with the fact that their old lives are over and they have a new beginning, a fresh start.



What sort of scene do you think this would suit? Do you listen to The Piano Guys when you write? What sort of music do you like to listen to when you write?

    I love The Piano Guys! I feel like the end of this song feels like someone coming home, and it always makes me so happy. :) But personally I like listening to Celtic music while I write.

      I didn't really think about it before, but the ending really does feel like coming home. The key change in the middle is my favourite bit of this whole piece. Ooh, Celtic music sounds lovely to write to. I haven't really tried that before. Do you have any recommendations of Celtic music to try?

    The Piano Guys are awesome. I love that piece!

      Oh I don't think I've listened to this musician yet. He's really good though! I loved that cover. I'll definitely have to check out more of his music now. Thanks so much for the recommendation!

    That is beautiful music! I love the sound of both songs combined!
    I listen to classical piano pieces when I write, normally chopin;)

      The two pieces just flow perfect together, don't they? Chopin has some really beautiful music. His piano pieces have been some of my favourites to play. Thanks for stopping to listen!
