Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Recently Added To My TBR List

Like most readers, I always have way, way too many books on
my to-be-read list. It doesn’t exactly help matters that I add more books every
time I visit a library, hang out online with cool bookish friends, or think
about reading. This week’s Top Ten
Tuesday, a link-up hosted by The
Broke and the Bookish is all about TBR lists, and specifically books
recently added to them. Seeing as I recently added a heap of books to my list, it’s
a great time for me to share what I’m planning on reading in the (hopefully)
near future.

I love Jonathon Stroud’s books. His writing style reminds me
of Derek Landy’s, with its dry humour and strange supernatural characters. I
read the first book in the Lockwood and Co series a while back, and ever since
then I’ve been eagerly awaiting the arrival of more books into our library. And
I struck gold and found book 3 in the same trip.
The Keeper

Sequel to The
Finisher, which I read last year and quite enjoyed, though I was a little
disappointed initially to find that it wasn’t actually about finishing people
off in a fight. It was still a good book though, and I’m definitely looking
forward to reading this one.
Dark Tide

Yet another sequel. My TBR list seems to be made up of mostly
sequels at the moment. But there are so many great series out there that I need
to finish. This is book three in The
Waterfire Saga. I think it’s written for slightly younger people than I,
but books know no age boundaries! I shall enjoy young person books about
mermaids as much as I like.
Bones Never Lie

I don’t know much about this book actually except that it’s
got something to do with forensics and murderers. I’m very much into thrillers,
mysteries and awesomeness that is forensics at the moment, so I’m hoping that
this will be a good read. Watch out characters, I might come up with some
dangerous new plot ideas for my own mystery!
Black Water
David Metzenthen

This is a book I found around the house actually, much to my
surprise. I quite like David Metzenthen’s books (Aussie writer for the win!) so
I’m looking forward to reading this one sometime soon. I have no idea what it’s
about actually, but I’ve liked his other books, so I’m hoping this one will be
just as good.

I’ve had these books for a while actually (far too long if I’m
being completely honest). But I still haven’t finished reading the series. So I’m
re-adding them to my TBR list and hopefully this’ll encourage me to finish what
has been a pretty amazing series.
Ink And Bone
Rachel Caine

I don’t know much about this book, but it involves the Great
Library of Alexandria, a monopoly on knowledge, and plenty to do with books, so
I’m definitely interested to give this one a shot. Plus it has a nice cover,
which doesn’t hurt either.

A post-apocalyptic world with assassins running around killing
important political figures? Sign me up. I’m very partial to a good
assassination, and I’m hoping this book will turn out to be an interesting
read.

:D :D :D :D GUESS WHO HERSELF IS REREADING DEADLOCK AS WE SPEAK? THIS GIRL! Because I have no willpower which is why I read Zero Hour, which led to reading Aftershock, which led to reading Deadlock. Which is hard, you must understand, because they are so painful... but so good. Hope you get your hands on them soon!
ReplyDeleteI'm almost scared of where this series is going. But excited at the same time. I have the books downloaded to my Kindle, and now I just have to make the time to read them. H.I.V.E is such a good series, isn't it?

I ACTUALLY HAVEN'T READ ANY OF THESE BOOKS AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT I'M DOING WITH MYSELF BECAUSE THEY LOOK SO GOOD. *sobs* Especially Ink and Bone. That one has been on my to-buy list for like, forever, and I really want it so badly. *wails* *collapses into heap*
I approve of the blue theme. I totally understand being drawn to certain cover colors at certain times. I find I'm generally more attracted to grey and dark blues and dark greens. *nods* Aesthetics are very important when it comes to books. (I mistyped that at first, and my computer autocorrected books to boys. Obviously that was a freudian slip on my computer's behalf.)
Asthetics don't hurt when it comes to boys either really. But yes, I totally agree, the aesthetics of a book are so important. I'm usually drawn to covers with a blue or dark theme to them, and the quality of the cover is so important as to whether I even pick the book up (I can be shallow like that).
DeleteThere are just too many good books in the world, aren't there? (what am I saying? There's no such thing as too many good books). I think we're all going to have to become immortal just so we have a chance of reading them all!
Ink and Bone is a recent addition to my TBR also! Of course, I have no idea when I'll get to it, because my TBR is also out of control. I can't seem to help it *grins sheepishly*

DeleteI read Ink and Bone last year and really enjoyed it! A very unique world and premise, and an exciting plot, especially toward the end. And I also have Dark Tide, though I haven't gotten around to reading it yet.

I'm reading it right now, and you're so right. It's such a unique idea for a world. I love the blend of the historical world with the future-tech. It works so well. Also, the subject of books is always going to make me love a story.
